Disco Singer And Porn Star Andrea True dies at 68

Star disco musician Andrea True is best known for singing More More More (How Do You like It?) has passed away at the age of 68.

True actually began her career as an actress in pornographic movies, action shortened her name from Andrea Truden and in an attempt to keep from embarrassing her family. She later went on to film commercials and her hit More More More was actually recorded in Jamaica where True was stuck because she didn’t earn enough money to leave the country. So she took what money she did make and used it to make the song that was stuck in her head, pairing a hazy piano-based instrumental with girly, breathless vocals.

Later she took the demo tape to New York, and had a remixed by Tom Moulton and have it released as a single, which she had credited to the Andrea True Connection. The song was a hit to reach number four on the Billboard charts and is often referred to as one of the classy hits of its time.

True’s next album failed to sell in large numbers thus ending her music career but did produce another hit “What’s Your Name What’s Your Number”.

Unsure of her future True spoke to a Los Angeles Times reporter stating she would not return to her former career in adult movies which he made more than 40 titles, most notably Deep Throat 2.

“I would be a waitress or a typist before I’d star in another,” she told the newspaper.

She eventually moved to Florida and made a living singing in clubs until complications from throat surgery made that impossible. Later on in life she took a variety of different jobs including drug and alcohol counselor, real estate agent and even worked as a telemarketer.

However in the last few years of her life she had it a bit easier as she began to receive bigger royalty checks when her More More More song was sampled by the Canadian band Len and Honey Bunches of Oats used it in a commercial.

True passed away November 7 in a New York hospital of heart failure. She has no immediate surviving family members.
