Actress Betsy Palmer, who is perhaps best known for her role as the killer in the cult classic “Friday the 13th” passed away Friday May 29th, 2015 from natural causes at the age of 88.
Palmer’s acting career spanned more than 50 years,starting with a number of high-profile television roles in the 1950s, including a stint as the original letter turner on “Wheel of Fortune” and a regular role as a panelist on the prime-time TV game show “I’ve Got a Secret.”
In the 80’s so, she brought in an entirely new generation of fans when she played Mrs. Voorhees in the 1980 cult classic “Friday the 13th.”
Her manager one on the state later that the only reason she accepted the role is because she needed the money for a new car and thought nobody would ever watch the film anyway.
The day before she got a call about which offered her a role in the film, her car broke down and a mechanic told her it would cost $10,000 to fix it.
Her manager then negotiated to get the movie studio to pay her exactly that! Which also family lead to a sporty new vehicle and a revitalized career.
No funeral information has been released and because she valued her privacy it will probably end up being a closed ceremony.
