Nick Stokes is leaving the scene of the crime. ERRR CBS’s long-running CSI.
George Eads, who has long portrayed the forensic investigator on CSI, will exit the series at the end of the show’s current 15th season. This may as well be a moot point as CSI has not been renewed for next season and is heavily on the bubble to return for a 16th season.
Eads is the only CSI original cast member who has been under contract for all 15 seasons to date. He, along with fellow original cast member Jorja Fox, were briefly fired at the beginning of Season 5 over a salary dispute but were quickly reinstated. Eads also was taken off the show a few episodes last season over an on-set physical altercation with a writer on the show. It is rumored that Eads’ exit from CSI is directly related to that incident and it’s upcoming legal fallout.
Eads’ departure would leave Fox as the only CSI cast member who was in the pilot. Besides her brief firing, she also left the series in Season 9 but then returned in Season 10 as a recurring before being reinstated as a regular.
CBS recently trimmed CSI’s order for this season to 18 episodes to make room for spin-off CSI:Cyber as well as other midseason dramas.
CSI airs Sundays at 10/9c on CBS. Will you be sad to see Eads and Nick go?
