HBO Has Renewed Enlightened But Cancels Hung, How to Make It in America, and Bored to Death

We have just gotten word that HBO has decided renew Laura Dern’s Golden Globes-nominated comedy series Enlightened for a 2nd season, the premium cable network announced today.
Unfortunately, the news wasn’t as good for fans of some of the networks other shows with Hung, Bored to Death, and How to Make It in America, finding out that the network will not be ordering any additional episodes of those recently concluded series.

Although Enlightened’s December 12th Season one finale averaged just a 0.1 rating among adults 18-49, and 263,000 total viewers, it establish a foothold with critics and picked up Globes nominations for Best Comedy Series and Lead Actress in a Comedy last week, an honor that reportedly made HBO “very, very happy.”

The network is hoping that the award nominations may be just what it takes for audiences to start watching the show. It’s a relatively low risk decision by the network as the show is reasonably priced.
