If you're one of those people hoping that the Harry Potter era could somehow find a way to return, then prepare to be disappointed as author J.K Rowlings puts a nail in the Potter franchise and moves on to bigger and better things. Rowling has written and is set to publish her very first novel aimed at an adult audience her books publishing company Little, Brown and Company announced earlier today.
"Although I've enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series," said Rowling in a statement. "The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher."
No further details about the book, including its title, subject or even release date were made available today and were told that information will not be released until later on this year.
I wonder how many adults will want to read an adult novel by Rowling and how many still will have their hearts set on another Harry Potter book. It does make a lot of business sense however; most young adults grew up reading the Harry Potter books so it seems likely a good portion of them will at least give the first book a try.
