Watch out Lady Gaga, Katy Perry's new album Part of Me is on track to have the biggest debut since Lady Gaga's Born This Way and she didn't have to do the one dollar Amazon download to do it. Early estimates show that Perry's new album has between 400,000 and 420,000 downloads this week which is a very far off of God as record of 448,000 album downloads.
Both stars premiered their albums at the Grammy ceremonies Gaga last year and Katy Perry this year. The only real differences Lady Gaga's album numbers were only for three-day span for that week while Katy gets a seven day span. That's still freaking impressive considering people are purchasing Katy Perry's new album for full retail.
This is going to be a big week for a lot of artists besides Katy. Adele should do well after her wins, Whitney Houston music is selling big time and Nicki Manaj has a new song out as well.
So I guess I'll just wish all these ladies best of luck (RIP Whitney) and hopefully this signals an upward trend in music sales and a decrease in online music piracy.
