Last year Captain America helped set up the plot line for The Avengers and in turn it looks as if The Avengers is returning the favor and setting up the storyline for the Captain America sequel. Marvel Studios and its parent company Disney today announced that the patriotic superhero is slated to go to theaters April 4th 2014 with Chris Evans still in the starring role.
Marvel’s announcement today also said that the sequel will pick up where The Avengers (due out May 4th) leaves off as Captain America continues his affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D. and their point man Nick Fury while still struggling to embrace his role in the modern day world.
The main thing you can take away from this is that Captain America and Nick Fury both survive The Avengers film and that it seems like Samuel L Jackson will play a more significant part in this film as opposed to the cameos he’s done thus far.
Captain America however won’t be the very first superhero sequel to hit theaters following the release of The Avengers that honor goes to Thor which will be releasing Thor 2 November 15th, 2013.
