Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are teaming up again as they are set to costar on a HBO series titled True Detective.
The crime series is reportedly extremely close to receiving an eight episode pickup from HBO and is considered a high concept cop drama and will be written by The Killing’s Nic Pizzolatto. Jane Eyre’s Cary Fukunaga will direct all the episodes.
The television show follows to detectives Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson), who pretty much as a result of both being part of a 17 year long manhunt for Louisiana serial killer and up entangled in one another’s lives. The show takes you back in time for a bit to cover the bizarre murder which took place back in 1995 and then brings you back to 2012 where the case has now been reopened.
This is pretty much a done deal with HBO it’s just awaiting some minor details to be finalized so production is expected to start any day now. The format of the show will call for fresh new characters and a brand-new story every season if it is renewed.
It really seems like an interesting concept and I know for a fact that Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are best friends off-camera so chemistry should not be a problem in this television series.
