The A-Team star Mr. T has started wearing costume jewelry to keep his trademark gold look going because he believed it would be “insensitive” of him to show off his wealth after so many people were left homeless in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina back in 2005.
The actor and WWE Hall of Fame wrestler, who’s real name is Laurence Tureaud, became a well know icon of the 1980’s for his mohawk hairstyle and his penchant for wearing multiple 14-carat gold chains, earrings, bracelets, and rings, which weighed in excess of 40 pounds, but Mr. T reveals he put his pricey jewels into storage 10 years ago after the hurricane struck the city of New Orleans.
He states” “I stopped wearing my gold when Katrina hit. As a Christian, I felt it’s considered to be a sin against la, for me to wear my gold when people lost everything. I felt it would insensitive and disrespectful for me to wear all my gold and people died in the storm and stuff like that… This is stage stuff.”
Hopefully, Mr. T’s revelation is the truth and he just didn’t call Cash for Gold when those royalty checks dried up.
