Weight loss and pregnancy are two very popular issues today and if you don’t believe me next time you’re at the supermarket just take a look at some of the magazine covers as you’re getting ready to check out and you’ll see the only other topics they cover are celebrities.
While TLC’s new show Obese and Expecting may not have celebrities it does cover the other two topics. The shell is about four ladies who are morbidly obese and also happen to be expecting a baby. The show will chronicle all of their health issues, weight gain and even their relationship issues as these moms to be attempts to deliver perfectly healthy children.
In a recent press release TLC described the show’s stars this way: “These women are challenging the perception — and the odds — of obese pregnancies, as they become moms, no matter their size or complications.”
Obese And Expecting will get a launch as a one-hour special and if it’s successful it will get a full season order. Most shows on TLC actually start out as a stand-alone specials and then end up becoming a television series most notably TLC’s Extreme Couponing. So in the coming weeks you are probably going to be inundated with ads promoting the show. The plan is to have Obese and Expecting help lead into another pregnancy related TLC project titled Birth Moms which will follow three women in Utah who are struggling with the decision of whether or not to give up their baby to live with another family.
Obese & Expecting and Birth Moms will debut May 17 at 9 and 10 p.m., respectively.
