Veteran Northern Irish actor J.J. Murphy has passed away, days after filming his first scenes for the fifth season of Game of Thrones.
Murphy had been cast to play the role of Ser Denys Mallister, the oldest member of the Night’s Watch. On Friday, the 86 year old collapsed and died.
It is not known how many more scenes Murphy had left to film, but series creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff made it clear that another actor would not fill the part.
“We will not be recasting J.J. Murphy. He was a lovely man, and the best Denys Mallister we could have hoped for. And now his watch is ended,” Weiss and Benioff said in a statement.
Marin County Sheriff’s Office and NBC in San Francisco are reporting that actor Robin Williams has been found dead in his home in California.
He was 63 years old.
Responding crews arrived at the home around noon, a release says.
Sheriff’s officials reportedly believe the cause of death was asphyxia and are suspecting it is a suicide.
The cause of death is currently under investigation, according to a release from the sheriff’s office .
Actor Robin Williams died Monday, August 11th at approximately 12:02 pm, the Marin County Sheriff’s announced tonight. According to the police statement, they are investigating the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia.
“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late,” Mara Buxbaum, press representative, said in a statement. “This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings,” Williams’s wife Susan Schneider said. “I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
The actor famously struggled with issues of addiction and mental health for years.

USA’s Suits is dressing up for a fifth season. The cable network just announced that it has renewed the legal dramedy for another sixteen episodes which will air sometime next year.
"Suits continues to fire on all cylinders, delivering provocative storytelling and complex characters that viewers can’t get enough of," USA President Chris McCumber said in a statement. "With some of the best writing on television, and a brilliant ensemble cast, we anticipate a spectacular fifth season for a series that has become a marquee property for USA."
Suits, which saw Mike (Patrick J. Adams) temporarily leave Pearson Specter for investment banking this season, wraps up its summer run next week. Season four’s remaining six episodes have yet to be scheduled to air.
