Jimmy Kimmel to Host 2012 Emmy Awards

I guess that the people in charge of the Emmy Award show have decided that they didn’t need a funny host this year shall be hired late night host Jimmy Kimmel to host the event. jimmy_kimmel_emmyHe takes over for  last year’s host Jane Lynch, who hosted when the award show was over on Fox. I guess really what is going on is no network once the other guys people to host a show on their network.

The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards is set to air on September 23rd on ABC.

"I hope to be able to do for the Emmys this year what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars," Kimmel joked, in a nod to the debacle in which Murphy pulled out of hosting this year’s Oscars after Brett Ratner, the producer who had selected him, left the show after making a homophobic remark that was caught on tape.

This isn’t  Kimmel’s first time hosting award shows in fact the comedian really gets around having hosted ESPYs, American Music Awards and ABC’s long-running After-Oscar special.

This actually is turning out to be quite a year for Kimmel in addition to hosting the Emmy award show next month he gets to MC the White House correspondents dinner in Washington.

Gallagher Has Another Heart Attack

gallagherJust  4 days after being discharged from the hospital legendary comedian Gallagher suffered another heart attack, this time however it was luckily just a mild one.

Gallagher is now resting up in a Sedona, Arizona hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

This is now Gallagher’s 3rd heart attack in less than a year and hopefully he will not have to be put in another medically induced coma like the last time.

Thoughts and prayers are with him and hopefully he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Kevin Smith Calls Bruce Willis an Emo Bitch

Kevin-Smith-Bruce-WillisActor/Director and weed aficionado Kevin Smith (Silent Bob from the Clerks) has slammed Bruce Willis calling the popular actor an emo Bitch on twitter. He took to twitter and asked his followers who he was talking about then tweeted a section from his new book, Tough S–t: Life Advice from a Fat, Lazy Slob Who Did Good:

“Who am I talking about when I write THIS,” Kevin asked his followers.

Of course it didn’t take long for his fans to realize he was talking about Willis:

“He turned out to be the unhappiest, most bitter and meanest emo-bitch I ever met at any job I’ve held. And mind you, I worked at Domino’s.” Kevin continued.

This isn’t the first time Smith has slammed Willis since making the piece of trash movie “Cop Out”, back in January of last year he complained about the actor during an interview for comedian Marc Maron’s podcast. I have no doubt Smith doesn’t like Willis and even though his tweets have been deleted the damage has been done. Thanks Mary Jane…

Smith probably is probably just trying hard to drum up some free publicity since his last few movies have been flops and people are starting to question the logic of investing money into films run by a stoner…

Hunger Games 3Rd Best Opening Weekend of All Time

As I write this it is predicted that Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games will finish up the weekend with an astounding hundred and $155 million domestic box office, that would be the third best all time debut for a film ever. It also would be the best ever for any film opening outside of summer and the best nonsequal film opening ever. the-hunger-games-movie-photo-b1705

Fandango sold 22% of all tickets sold for The Hunger Games and they estimate during peak movie hours they sold 17 tickets every second. Domestic box-office revenues were up a whopping 78 percent from a year ago, thanks to the might of Hunger Games, which changes the fortunes of Lionsgate and gives the studio an instant franchise to build around.

The Hunger Games is the big-screen  adaptation of Susan Collins novel of the same title starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. If you’d like to know more about the film you can see our review here.

I predict this film will still be going strong for the next few weeks and should easily do $300+ million domestically without breaking a sweat. If you haven’t seen it you probably should because it’s right now easily the best film of the year thus far.
