South Korean musician PSY is closing out 2012 on another career high – his viral youtube video for Gangnam Style has hit one a billion views on YouTube.com.
The attention-getting song’s promo, featuring his looney horse-style dance routine, was uploaded on the video streaming internet site on July fifteenth and it shortly became the most-watched clip of all time, surpassing the former record held by Justin Bieber’s Baby.
On Friday the track accomplished another major milestone, becoming the 1st video in history to achieve the one billion mark.
The shocked 34 year old tells MTV.com, "I can’t compare it to anything else! In 2012, I experienced so many things; it’s been a tremendous year, but to accomplish this, it’s really something that stands out. Because it all began with YouTube, and to have (the video) reach one billion views… I don’t think even I can break that record!"
It certainly has been quite a year for Psy – he was signed to Scooter Braun’s Schoolboy Records as Bieber’s label mate and asked to perform for President Barack Obama at the White House earlier this month, while Gangnam Style was recently named the second highest-trending search of 2012 by bosses at Google.
