The Minnesota Timberwolves have finally rid themselves of their unwanted point guard Ricky Rubio. Minnesota actually had been trying to trade Rubio for the past two years but up until today, there were no takers. I find this pretty sad since when he first came to the NBA he had been billed as the next Steve Nash but I guess at the time nobody realized how bad Rubio’s shooting was.
In the deal, the Wolves are sending Rubio to the Utah Jazz in exchange for the Oklahoma City’s protected 2018 draft pick.
It seems to be a good trade for both teams as Timberwolves get a possible trade asset in the probable late first round Thunder draft pick while the Jazz receive a pass first starting point guard who brings some good defense to the team but is a liability when shooting.
I have a feeling this is just the first of many roster moves by the Timberwolves as they have been already making big changes to their roster.
