Florida police were searching for country singer Mindy McCready and her five-year-old son Zander, after both disappeared Tuesday night in an apparent dispute between the country singer and the court system.
McCready doesn’t have legal custody of the child but is allowed visitations, she was last seen after she picked up her son from his father’s house in Cape Coral Florida. The 36 year old singer’s parents actually have custody of the boy.
A missing persons report has been filed with police, and the judge has ordered McCready to return Zander by 5:00 PM Thursday. McCready posted a message via Facebook saying
“My son is not missing” and that “police established that this afternoon via Skype.”
“I have been fighting the Florida court system to protect my son, and bring him home,” she writes. “Please do not worry.”
McCready has had a number of recent personal problems including an apparent overdose, multiple suicide attempts and a stint in rehab. I hope she comes to her senses and returns the boy before the deadline.
