Super Mario Bros. getting a limited edition Blu-ray release

This is going to sound like a hoax but it’s 100% true. “Super Mario Bros.” the 1993 live-action Nintendo video game adaptation that starred Bob Hoskins is getting a limited edition Steelbook Blu-ray.

The massive flop starred Hoskins and John Leguizamo as Brooklyn plumbers Mario and Luigi who and up an alternate dimension in which they must battle the evil King Koopa and his Goomba Guards, free Princess Daisy, as well as save the world.

Bob Hoskins once described this film as “the worst thing I ever did,” yet fans are clamoring to acquire the Blu-ray discs once they’re released.

The Steelbook edition of “Super Mario Bros.” features a 60 minute documentary with new interviews from Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel, producer Roland Joffe, actors John Leguizamo and Richard Edson and writer Parker Bennett, as well as an archival interview with Hoskins and producer Jake Eberts. The original electronic press kit for the movie and storyboard galleries will also be included as bonus features when it is released this February.
