Probably the most popular television show in the history of the CW network ‘Supernatural‘ is going to get a spinoff. Don’t worry this doesn’t mean Supernatural is going anywhere they are just making another show in the same world. Instead of a show following the Winchester brothers, Wayward Sisters is going to center around Kim Rhodes’ Sheriff Jody Mills.
To test out the waters of the planned series the creators of Supernatural filmed a backdoor pilot which is set to air during Supernatural’s upcoming 13th season.
Wayward Sisters follows Sheriff Jody Mills as she takes in a few young woman who were orphaned by a supernatural tragedy. These girls under Mills supervision are taught how to hunt supernatural monsters and demons just like the Winchester brothers.
Wayward Sisters intends to bring other characters over from Supernatural including Claire Novak (Kathryn Love Newton) and Alex Jones (Katherine Ramdeen), who, alongside Mills, have been the subject of multiple fan campaigns to give the characters their own spinoff.
Reportedly, CW is hoping for even more monster hunting on its network and Wayward Sisters is just the first of three possible spinoffs of the show. Hopefully, this one does better than their last attempted spinoff Bloodlines which never even got a pickup order.
This sounds like it’s going to be a great show. The fact that they are capitalizing on the female energy around the show is a smart move and Kim Rhodes is an excellent choice to be the person who bridges the gap between the shows.
