Swamp People Star Mitchell Guist Has Died

Michell Guist who appeared on The History Channel series Swamp People  with his brother Glenn passed away today in a Louisiana swamp earlier today.

Guist was out on a swamp boat and around 9 a.m. he appeared to have a seizure and fell into the water. The person who was in the boat with the Swamp People star turned the boat around and pulled Guist from the water. Attempts to perform CPR on Mitchell Guist unfortunately were unsuccessful.

The History Channel issued the following statement today: "We are extremely saddened to report that our friend and beloved member of the Swamp People family, Mitchell Guist, has passed away earlier today. Mitchell passed on the swamp, doing what he loved. We appreciate your respect for the Guist family's privacy and hope you join us in sending our thoughts and prayers to his brother, Glenn, and the rest of the Guist family

Guist and his brother were born and raised on the bayou and live entirely off the land. At least he died in a place he loved and doing what he loved the most. Mitchell Guist was 48 years old. No word yet on any funeral plans but I certainly see the possibility of the History Channel doing some type of memorial show for Mitchell Guist because he did have such a large fan base.

  1. It doesn't  seem to get any easier in spite of getting little trickles of information about Mitchell Guist this week.  This is a lot larger than some people might think. They need to lower  the American Flag  at least on the day of his Funeral to Honor him. He will probably and should have a Grand Going Home Celebration with all of his Family and Friends and the general public who immediately after hearing the news that Mitchell  had passed, began to send Condolences, Notes of Sorrow and how we all have been affected. I still can't believe it !!   At least he didn't die alone in the water and very glad someone was with him.
