UFC Light Heavyweight champ Jon "Bones" Jones was arrested for DUI early this morning after crashing his Bentley into a utility pole. Jones car was totaled as a result of the accident and the UFC fighter was bailed out of jail a few hours later by his mom.
It’s kina ironic that Jon “Bones Jones filmed a video about himself going through police training with the Broome County Sheriff’s department since they were the ones who arrested him. Watch his training video with the Broome County Sheriff’s department below.
Jones last UFC fight was back in April 21st when he beat Rashad Evans by a unanimous decision. Barring any disciplinary actions by UFC president Dana White, Jones’s next scheduled fight is on September 1 in Las Vegas against Dan Henderson.
Jon "Bones" Jones manager Malki Kawa, released a statement saying:
"I can confirm that Jon Jones was arrested early this morning on suspicion of DUI. While the facts of this situation are still being gathered and situated, First Round Management fully supports Jon, and we are asking for fans and media to respect the privacy of Jon and his family during this time."
DUI is a serious crime and just because nobody got hurt it doesn’t change the fact that Jon Jones put a lot of people’s lives in danger when he decided to get behind the wheel after he’d been drinking. I say don’t let him off lightly and make him serve some jail time because he could have easily afforded just get a cab.
